Daviess County Sheriff's Office
212 St. Ann Street
Owensboro, KY 42303
The Criminal Investigation Division is commanded by Captain Bill Thompson, who has over 38 years of Law Enforcement experience with the majority of that experience in General Investigations and narcotics related cases. He is a graduate of the Federal Bureau of Investigations National Academy, the National Crime Prevention Institute, the United States Secret Service Dignitary Protection Program, The Federal Drug Enforcement Administration Advanced Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs School, and many other Law Enforcement classes and seminars.
The general Criminal Investigation Division is responsible for the investigation of all felonies committed in Daviess County. This includes, but is not limited to, murders, rapes, robberies, burglaries, major assaults, stolen vehicles, and thefts and narcotics investigations. Detective Sergeant Morgan Palmiter, Detective Sergeant Jerry Spurrier, Detective Corporal Chester Freels, and Detective Scott Ingram, have many years of combined experience that is of great benefit to this community. They are committed to protecting and serving the members of this community, and making it a safe environment in which to live and raise our children.
The Criminal Investigation Division was expanded dramatically under the leadership of Sheriff Cain. At one time the Sheriff Cain, then a detective, was the only investigator assigned to C.I.D. Realizing that the citizens of this community deserved an active and dedicated Criminal Investigation Division, Sheriff Cain expanded this unit to include six full time Detectives. In fact, Sergeant Palmiter and Corporal Freels have completed the Academy of Police Supervision (APS) course. Detective Palmiter, in 2011, became the first Deputy from the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office to complete the Criminal Justice Executive Development (CJED) course.
