Meet the Chief Deputy Sheriff

Major Scott Wedding

Chief Deputy Scott Wedding is a life-long Daviess County resident growing up in the small east county towns of Whitesville and Knottsville.  Scott is married to Carrie Wedding and they have one daughter, Sydney.  When Scott is not at work he enjoys reading, golfing, bowling, and spending time with family.

Chief Deputy Wedding is a proud graduate of Trinity High School in Whitesville.  Scott has an undergraduate degree in Criminal Justice from Eastern Kentucky University and a Masters degree in Public Administration from Western Kentucky University.  During his 24 year law enforcement career, he has completed many diverse trainings in law enforcement through the Department of Criminal Justice Training.

In 1998, Chief Deputy Wedding began his law enforcement career with the Eastern Kentucky University Campus Safety Police.  Since May 1999, Chief Deputy Wedding has proudly served the citizens of Daviess County beginning as a Deputy with the Daviess County Sheriff's Office.  Scott has served in a plethora of positions within the Office including Bailiff, DARE Officer, School Resource Officer, Patrol Deputy, and has led the leadership roles of Corporal, Sergeant, Lieutenant, Captain, and Major.

Chief Deputy Wedding believes in the importance of giving back to his community.  Over the last 5 years, Chief Deputy Wedding has served on various community boards: Lighthouse, Owensboro Regional Recovery, and Building Stronger Families.

During his 24 year career, Chief Deputy Wedding has been the recipient of various awards including the life-saving, education, excellent arrest, unit commendation, Deputy of the Year (2011) and Kentucky Sheriff's Association Deputy of the Year (2011).

Chief Deputy Scott Wedding was promoted to Chief Deputy by Sheriff Barry Smith on December 1, 2021.  While Scott prefers to give praise rather than receive praise, he believes his greatest asset is that he will never ask a deputy to do anything he would not do.  No task is too menial for him to complete.  Scott considers himself a "logistics guy" who can take an idea from conception to completion.  Scott has a servants heart and does whatever it takes to accomplish the ultimate goals of the Office.
