Operations & Communications

The Daviess County Sheriff's Office now operates from offices in the Daviess County Courthouse, which was last renovated in 1964.  It sits on the same site of Daviess County's original courthouse which was burned by Confederate guerrillas in 1965, after it had been occupied by a garrison of the Union Army.

The Sheriff's Office staffs and maintains an Enhanced 911 communications center which can grow rapidly in an emergency, as a backup to Owensboro / Daviess County Central Dispatch. We are dispatched through Owensboro / Daviess County Central Dispatch which is physically located with the Owensboro Police Department. If you call our office after business hours your call is transfered to Central Dispatch, however if you stay on the line through the prompts a telecommunicator will have you in touch with us right away.

Daviess County Sheriff's Deputies are well connected while they patrol with Mobile Data Terminals and have access to a broad range of databases and the internet to support them. Central Dispatch and the Sheriff's Office work hard to stay abreast of improving technologies which have increased our work load but also continue to make us more efficient.

You can take a big step in protecting you and your loved ones by going to www.Smart911.com and providing information so that a call from your cell phone will provide us with life saving information.
