Administrative Staff

The Administrative Division is responsible for the essential day-to-day functions of the Sheriff’s Office not covered by Patrol or Investigations. Examples include maintaining the back-up center for Owensboro Daviess County Central Dispatch, the Court Security Unit, the Tax Collection Unit, the business office, and the clerical needs for the Sheriff’s Office. The Business Office is led by the DCSO Finance Director and is primarily staffed by Administrative Clerks.

TAX COLLECTION UNIT:

Sheriff's Offices in the Commonwealth of Kentucky are a ‘fee service” entity. That is, we derive much of our operating expenses from the fees and taxes we collect. The Daviess County Sheriff’s Office collects over 70 million dollars in taxes annually.

COURT SECURITY UNIT:

The Sheriff has a statutory mandate (KRS 70.140) to provide Court Security Officers (CSOs) in each session of the Daviess Circuit Courts, Daviess District Courts, and Juvenile Court.. In addition to court room security, these men and women are responsible for securing the Judicial Center by screening visitors at the front door security station, maintaining emergency communication systems (between the courtrooms and Central Dispatch), prisoner handling/transportation, and assisting the public.

CSOs are certified by attending an eighty-hour class at the Department of Criminal Justice Training on the campus of Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond, Ky. Once certified, each CSO must attend forty hours of in-service training every other year to maintain proficiency.
