Patrol Division

Divisions

The Patrol Division consists of 3 patrol shifts that provide 24 hour per day coverage as well as a presence at the Owensboro-Daviess County Regional Airport during commercial flight operations to assist airport staff and the Transportation Security Administration.

Patrol Deputies conduct law enforcement operations such as responding to calls for service such as disturbances, vehicle collisions, noise complaints, trespassing complaints, and more. They also assist partner agencies such as the Owensboro Police Department, the ambulance service, multiple fire departments, and social services.  In addition to law enforcement, Patrol Deputies also serve the county by performing some of the constitutional duties of the office such as civil process service, warrant service, and inmate transportation.

The DCSO K9 Unit is assigned to the Patrol Division as well. Currently the K9 Unit has 2 Police Service Animals and will be adding a third K9 team in the fall of 2023.

• Astor is a dual service dog that is certified in narcotics detection as well as handler protection. He assists our agency is combatting the presence of dangerous drugs in our community.

• Claire is a single purpose dog that is a certified therapy dog. Her role is to provide comfort and affection to people that may be experiencing a traumatic event. She helps our employees as needed but also visits schools, nursing home, non-profits and other places in an effort to reduce stress and promote a positive relationship between the DCSO and the citizens of Daviess County.

The DCSO Patrol Division is the backbone of our agency. Many of our deputies are assigned to special units such as the Accident Reconstruction Unit, the Training Instructor Unit, the Drone Unit and serve on Volunteer Fire Departments. 

DCSO Deputies patrol the entire 477 square miles of Daviess County to include the cities of Owensboro and Whitesville as well as many unincorporated areas. The DCSO has memorandums of understanding with many other sheriff’s offices to provide services as needed in those counties and can also call of those agencies for assistance when needed.
